The Taliban turn to social media

    The Taliban has recently adopted social media to further amplify and spread their message. Social media had been banned up until recently, which came as a surprise to everyone when pages under the Taliban began to pop up. When the Taliban first came into power, they confiscated all internet devices, tv’s, and cameras. It has been assumed that they are using social media to amplify their image and spread their beliefs faster. The platforms include twitter and instagram, who have banned multiple accounts created by the Taliban. But, they have recently been recruiting people to spread their message on social media as a loophole. They are also falsely claiming victories that they have not actually obtained. One of their accounts has reached up to 371,000 followers, and they write their posts in English.
